The Columbine Effect

The effects the columbine and the media following this tragedy has had on the 21st century.

Video games and violence

It has been sad that video games played a role in molding the sick minds of the Columbine killers, and the tragedy even inspired video games of it’s own. What effects do violent games have on our society, and does it really make a difference?

In almost every mass shooting, there has been a video game created to glorify the tragedy.

V-Tech Rampage and the Slaying of Sandy Hook Elementry are two horrifying video games that were created by Australian man Ryan Lambourn. Disconnected from these crimes completed, he is opening the minds of young impressionable adults to thinking that crimes like this are acceptable. In both games, players take on the roll of the shooter and gain a false sense of control, and invincibility. Unfortuantly these things severly damage those who already are on the edge of a break down.

Doctors even state that families should ban violent video games, it’s proven time and time again that they have a negative effect on nearly everyone.

Some may argue that not all video games are bad, but studies show that nearly 90% of video games promote violence.

This is something that needs to be changed.
